Washington, DC

There is a lot to see and do in Washington, D.C. — below are some of our favorite places that you might enjoy in between wedding events.

Walk (or run) around the National Mall

National Mall

National Mall Park
Washington, D.C.

Walk from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument, and check out the WWII Memorial in between. There’s also the Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, U.S. Capitol and more.

Tour the National Zoo

Smithsonian's National Zoo

3001 Connecticut Ave NW
Washington, D.C.

The National Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the United States, and as part of the Smithsonian Institution, does not charge admission. If you’re lucky, the pandas will be out (you’re nearly guaranteed a good Panda sighting if you go early in the morning during their feeding time — we’ve done it).

Visit the Smithsonian Museums

National Mall

National Mall Park
Washington, D.C.

Whether you’re into history, art or space ships, the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall offer free entry and free learning.

Peruse the Renwick Gallery

Renwick Gallery

1661 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, D.C.

Recently reopened after extensive renovations, the Renwick Gallery is a branch of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, located in Washington, D.C., and focuses on American craft and decorative arts from the 19th to the 21st century.

Hike the Billy Goat Trail

Billy Goat Trail

11710 MacArthur Blvd
Potomac, MD

The Billy Goat Trail is a 4.7-mile hiking trail that follows a path between the C&O Canal and the Potomac River within the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park near Great Falls in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Check out the White House

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, D.C.

Say goodbye to Barrack with one last visit to the White House during his presidency. He’ll be in the process of moving out, and by our wedding weekend we’ll have elected a new head of state to move in!
